To celebrate the closing of the Year of the Priest, Fr. Hearty gave a spiritual talk on Saturday June 5th. After the conference a short video was shown entitled: Alter Christus. The DVD was issued in conjunction with the Congregation of the Clergy this year. “Alter Christus”, a fast-paced film on the many aspects of the priesthood in the life of the Church.

Fr. Brian Harrison OS, MA, STD, is an Australian born Roman Catholic priest and theologian. Father Harrison is a prolific writer on religious issues and an emeritus professor of theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (1989-2007). He currently resides in St. Louis, MO. Fr. Harrison spoke about Sacred Scripture, the Church’s teaching on its inerrancy, some of the problems with modern biblical scholarship and the need to include Scripture reading as a part of our spiritual life.

Mrs. Jane Brennan, a post-abortive woman herself, shared to many parishioners at Our Lady of Mount Carmel her story of healing after abortion on October 26th, 2009. Jane Brennan has devoted her life now to speaking about the hurt and shame of abortion. Her powerful testimony is witness to the love and mercy of God.
Mrs. Jane Brennan, MS, a former member of NOW and Planned Parenthood volunteer, has devoted her private counseling practice, Hope for the Journey, to offer post-abortive women a safe place to reconcile unresolved grief and loss. In 2005 Brennan received the Pro-Vitae (For Life) award from the Archdiocese of Denver, an award given to those who have shown tremendous support for pro-life issues. Brennan has also published several pieces regarding abortion’s aftermath on various websites.
